False Evidence Appearing Real

We have been having some great weather and yesterday we got a chance to go mountain biking. Parts of the trail were cleared from leaves, so that was definitely a plus for me. It’s so much easier to avoid obstacles when you can see them. On one particular trail, there was some hard packed clay and with the way the sun was shining down upon it, some of the smaller roots looked like snakes because they were a little wet and shiny, and some of the overturned leaves looked like rocks. I would go to dodge them and then noticed that there was no real danger. I remembered a teaching about fear and how it can paralyze us or cause us to react in ways making everything worse or get us off course. When we start giving more focus to our problems and to the problems going on in this world right now, our faith can waiver. What we need to remember is to keep our eyes on Jesus and let His peace reasonate inside of us.

Some scriptures to meditate on:

“We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.”     ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12:2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God. And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours]. Philippians‬ ‭4:6-7‬ ‭AMP‬‬

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”  ‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭1:7‬ ‭KJV‬‬
