Yesterday, Kasey and I went for a quick mountain bike ride after work. I was excited to go on the ride because I have not had a chance the past couple of weeks to go. One thing I did not count on was that the trails were almost unrecognizable because of all the leaves that had fallen. To say that I was not a little intimidated at the beginning of the ride would be a lie. In fact, I really was contemplating heading back to the car. I kept perserving on the trail and praying for God to help me see every root and rock hidden under the leaves. While I ride, I am always intently listening to not only the sound of the squirrels in the woods, who by the way sound like bears coming after me, but I also am listening to see what God is saying.
Although I could not see the trail clearly, I knew it was there and I had to trust that my tires would stick to the ground and that God was watching over me. All of you know that this has been quite a year and we don’t know what’s happening from one minute to the next. What God was showing me was how the leaves represent what is going on in the world right now. There is so much going on with the election, COVID, riots, chaos, and a whole lot of uncertanity of when and if things will retur nto “normal”. Not to mention everything else going on in your own personal life that you are having to deal with. When so many things like this are going on around you, it’s hard to see which way to go. That’swhy we have to sure ourselves up in the word of God. Psalms 119:105says, “Your word is a lamp to my fe et and a ligh t to my path.” I want to encourage you this morning, that no matter what is going on in this world and in your life, pray and ask our heavenly Father to help you see more clearly so that you can dodg e those things that would try to cause your faith to falter. As you give Him your cares and worries, the trail/path will start to clear and your footing will become more sure as you put your trust in Him.
“Trust in and rely confidently on the LORD with all your heart And do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, And He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way].”.
